Coordinating policy researcher

Jan Willem le Grand has worked as a Coordinating Policy Researcher at IOB within the Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation cluster since September 2025. Jan Willem obtained his doctorate in 2014 for a study on rural development processes in Bolivia at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Previously, he studied Social Geography of the Developing Countries in Amsterdam (1988) and Public Policy and Management at the University of London (2006). Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Willem worked at embassies in Peru, Venezuela, Bolivia, Mozambique and Brazil and in The Hague at the Directorate Western Hemisphere and Directorate Multilateral Institutions and Human Rights.
