Substudy – Literature Review on Development Approaches to Forced Displacement from Syria in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq
In the context of the broader policy evaluation of the Dutch development approaches to forced displacement policy in the Syria region, a literature review was commissioned. In this study, University College London (UCL) synthesized evidence on the hosting of refugees from Syria in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
The literature study consists of a full report and three policy briefs.

The evidence which is synthesized in this study relates to:
(1) factors that are relevant for refugees’ decision to stay or migrate onwards to third countries;
(2) social cohesion and refugees’ participation in local communities;
(3) economic participation and the economic impact of refugees on local communities in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
UCL has conducted the literature study on behalf of IOB. Therefore, opinions, findings and conclusions as presented in the report are those of the authors and not necessarily those of IOB.
