Policy review of the Dutch contribution to drinking water – From infrastructure to sustainable impact
The Netherlands is a major player in the worldwide efforts on behalf of safe drinking water and simple sanitation that have provided millions of poor people in developing countries with a good source of drinking water and a toilet. Yet often the health of these beneficiaries has improved little, if at all, because not everyone with an improved source of water can obtain water from it throughout the year. There is scope for better evaluation of policy implementation and for more focus on obtaining sustainable impacts, but this requires the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deploy more manpower.
