Aim IOB

IOB wants to provide insight into the results of Dutch foreign policy. To do this, we produce high-quality evaluations that are meaningful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the House of Representatives and the Senate, and other stakeholders (such as NGOs, implementing organisations, think tanks, evaluation services, scientists and industry).

Our analyses and recommendations help policymakers:

to account for the policies: is the policy working and have the resources been well spent?
to apply lessons to improve policy: why were some results achieved but others not, and how can we do better in the future?

IOB also works as an advisor for current and future foreign policy. The lessons from the past and our knowledge of monitoring and evaluation enable us to help policymakers and politicians make well-founded choices. By actively disseminating our knowledge and providing in-depth and critical reflection on policy, we act as a mirror for policy and implementation within the Ministry.
